History.
Buffalo Companion Animal Network began as a group of area citizens protesting
the announced end of adoptions at the City of Buffalo Animal
Shelter, part of the city's cost-cutting moves to close its serious budget gap.
Now the group focuses on community-based initiatives in support of animal
welfare.
Nonprofit status.
Buffalo Companion Animal Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity.
We operate on a 100% volunteer basis, and our activities are funded
exclusively through fundraising, membership fees, contributions, and donations.

501(c)(3) status.
The IRS determination letter that grants Buffalo Companion Animal Network
501(c)(3) nonprofit status also grants us status as a public charity under
provision 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) of the IRS code. As a result, donations and
